I shall not conform.

Hello everybody.

Today is new year's eve. I'm excited, but in the words of my mother

"Why is this day different from all the others?"
- Mommy

That doesn't stop me from celebrating old year's night the only way I know how. with friends, and a good party.

Yesterday I passed my drivers exam. This morning my brother and I went on a little roadtrip around pinelands, went to McD's and drove all around listening to Deadmau5 and Led Zeppelin.

This post does not have any pictures in it because I am close to giving up on trying to describe the beauty of music and sound in pictures.

So this God.. He's a pretty big guy?

Hello everyone.

I know there aren't very many people who read this blog, but I appreciate the fact that some of you do. I'm sitting in studio, and I'm about to start a two week stint of The Drive, which I'm very excited for.

In these past few weeks, I've been making many changes to be able to say proudly that
I am a Christian. I'm done hiding it. I've decided that everything I do should be for God's glory. Including my music, my radio work, and my social life.

Have a wonderful and blessed Christmas*

L and B. you're legends.

weheartit.com is amazing

Good morning, wednesday

It's wednesday morning and I'm sitting deeply absorbed into the big leather couch at the coffee sha-bean in Muizenburg. Nothing better on a wednesday morning.

I've just ordered a freshly toasted croissant with jam and butter, and I'm going to sit here taking very grateful advantage of the free wi-fi while enjoying the smooth sounds of John Mayer. I really couldn't wish for a better wednesday morning.

I have a band practice with the guys from college today, we're covering the music of the american Ska band Five Iron Frenzy. Today is our first practice, and I'm really excited.

Stay tuned to CCFm this week on thursday from 3:30 till 6, I'm going to be standing in for The Drive show, so you all better be listening!

Take this away with you as you get over the middle of the week

I'm in studio at this very moment, listening to Melanie's "Deep". It's got a dubstep beat in the beginning, very awesome. Have a great evening everyone, I'm heading out to the Cannon's Creek Celebration of the Arts evening, where my brother's band, Element of The Reals is playing. Very excited.

Hello, Summer.

Hello everyone. Today was a beautiful summer's day, and it was a lovely day all in all :) Last night we went to The Brass Bell for Mikey J's Birthday, and a fun time was had by all :)

Hanging out with Jocelyn's two friends from Oz has been awesome, showing them around the area and teaching them why they shouldn't repeat the phrases they heard the fishermen at Kalk Bay screaming. And yes, Mr. Fisherman, you certainly ARE our macdaddy. (A fisherman - however drunk he was, caught a stingray at the harbour. He then proceeded to shout loudly to everyone: "Who's your MACDADDY! I'M your macdaddy!")

I rather fancy Kalky's Calamari.

As previously mentioned, J and her friends J and C and I went down to Kalk Bay for a look around some of the shops and galleries, and we ended up on the end of the jetty/dock/harbour and had lunch. Then a seal gave us a fright.

In other news, It's almost summer! Look at this beautiful picture.

A big shout out to L, who is a big inspiration for this blog - I look up to her blogging skills and hopefully mine will be like hers. Thanks, L :)

Now remember kids, Keep strong in Christ, and look before you cross the road!

Some interesting things

Hey everyone. I've been blogging a lot recently - particularly because I've been spending more time in studio, and more time to think :) Here are some photographs that caught my eye on Deviantart. Enjoy!

"Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end; then stop. - Lewis Carroll"

A good deal of tyranny goes by the name of protection. - Crystal Eastman

Some interesting things

StudioPost2 20th September

Hello again. This is me again, down in the studio. Right now I'm sitting through the random Kid's story, waiting to start the show. Time for some more pictures!
This is the college I attend.

Nice hey? It's small. But pretty cool.
This is another picture of the new keyboard that's found a home in my home. It's the Roland Juno-G, and it's fantastic.

Putting pictures in my blog is fun. I'm going to be making use of this feature more often :)

I'm now starting my show, so i'm going to leave this open and keep putting things in when I get the chance.

The new sexy CD players that are in studio. They work so erratically but they're nice nonetheless

They're very confusing to work. The volume control is very strange, especially because it's controlled via the desk. Good times.

It's 16: 20 and I'm still having fun :) If you're listening, hope you're enjoying the show!

StudioPost 20th September

Hello everyone. Today's blog post is going to be fun, because I have 3 hours in studio to kill, so it might turn into one up here in the office, and then another down in studio. Amped much? I'm also going to try and put in more pictures, because I've realised that I basically never put in any pictures.

Here's the first one. This is of a studio. That I like.

So that's how you put pictures in!

This next one is of an icecream. Why? I don't know.

This is fun. I'm now going to publish this, see how it turns out, and then carry on putting pictures in another post later during the show. Yay!

Never mind. Irene - Toby Mac on the play at the moment. "Hush little baby don't you cry, the Lord's gonna answer your prayers tonight"

In studio for Scoreboard at the moment, what a jam. Head bobbing music indeed.

These studio posts aren't very long, usually because I write them while I'm in studio. Woop!

Have a good weekend everyone!

Times of Reflection

Step 1. Listen to the song "Amazing Grace" by Jars of Clay.

Step 2. Find yourself a radio studio to sit quietly and reflect in

Step 3. Start being grateful for all the fantastic things in life.

This is what I'm doing. Life is a very complicated thing. I've been going through a bit of a tough time lately, and it's only recently that I'm starting to realise how important the things that I have are. What a fantastic testimony that every Christian has - we have such an amazing blessing to shout about! We have eternal life, and our sins are forgiven. If that doesn't excite you from here till next week, then you need to do what I've just done - Sit and reflect on it.

I'm now jamming to "Get Ready" by the popular Christian acapella group Vocal Union. Man, these guys cheer me up.

I'm in studio at the moment, behind the mic for CCFM Scoreboard. I'm going to be presenting The Drive on CCFM 107.5 on wednesday and thursday, so take a listen if you get a chance!

That's me for now, Cheers and God Bless!

I'm in a lecture

Hello one follower! At least now I know that one person follows my blog.

I'm sitting in a small groups lecture, taught by Scott Tubman. It's very good. that's why I'm writing this blogpost :)

Adam, a guy in my class, made me coffee. So here I sit, coffee next to me, on a wonderfully rainy day, with a mug of hot coffee, and I'm content in the world. I am so blessed :)

Time to take notes - Cheers..

Regular post becomes The Doc

Good evening.

This is a post. I can't actually think of anything to say. Sometimes when I start blogging things just come to me.

Much like The Doc's sex talk to us the other day. He is the King of Brain Farts. No. Seriously. He has a throne and everything.

He was giving us a sex talk wherein he told us about the purebred dog he used to have that used to climb walls when it was on heat, he told us a story about a man that appreciated the relationship between men and women so much that he, rather embarrassingly, began weeping, and finally he told us the story of how he had heard that all young boys at some stage in their development go through a phase of marked homosexuality. He had not, however, ever been through, or experienced that phase.

At the end of the talk, he explained to us that all of this was unplanned, and that what he was actually trying to say was that they would appreciate it if there were to be no room visiting, i.e. No guys in girl's rooms and no girls in guy's rooms.

Today, Frankie baby came to talk to us. The Doc, by way of introduction told us about Frank's children. "Frank is the father of John* and Michael*, and he is the father of... a girl (we now start to realise that he's forgotten her name), who is in Norway. SHE'S IN NORWAY! and we'd just like to thank frank for coming to speak to us, DEBBIE!" and he sat down.

Some say he has a tattoo of his face, on his face. Some say he is the King of Brain Farts.

All we know is,

He's called The Doc.

Reality Television

Hi there.

I was sitting in L72 in the Grand Arena at Grandwest today watching the adverts for The Reality Channel before the Top Gear Live show. Which was amazing. anyway.

I have concluded something: Reality Television is a sign of the hopeless downfall of humankind. The fact that we have become so bored with our own lives that we need to sit and watch others' lives makes me sad.

The single flaw in this theory is that Reality TV (Some of it, not all of it) is just so awesome. For instance, Wipeout. That's the best show in the world. I watch innocent, unfit, random people getting hurt and it makes me laugh. Another case in point is Survivor SA. This show is the worst show in the world. Yet, Somehow, seeing a woman in a bikini walk down the beach on a distant island with her fellow "castaways" complaining about how her iPod batteries have run down and she can't find her charger in her bag, is severely amusing.

Perhaps this is because it's South African, or perhaps it's just that the failure of what is supposed to be a dramatic and nail-biting show that makes me laugh so hard.

But if we are sitting on our couches at home, watching a famous (often for an unknown reason) couple living their everyday lives, instead of being out in the world living our own lives, we need to rethink what our purpose is.

This is your life, not someone else's. You're here for more than that.

Greetings minions

Hello fellow followers..

Your numbers are few (Perhaps zero) so this post may be another elusive post that is projected in to the void of cyberspace.

Recently, I've been doing a bit of youth work at my church. It's a very daunting experience.. I am not a kids person. I don't ever plan on having kids, and i don't like children at all.

Then they put me smack bang in the middle of a small kids ministry. I see it as a means of grace, and I am slowly beginning to grow fond of these kids. Still, there's a way to go in terms of being a good leader among children.

I tend not to post as often as I would like.. Perhaps it's because the feedback here on Blogspot.com is very minimal. Perhaps, I should make my posts regular and punctual, thus resulting in me becoming completely addicted to blogging. Which is entirely possible.

I'm currently in the process of obtaining a slightly more increased remuneration package for my work.. It annoys me slightly that I do rather a lot work for absolutely no pay. I shall refrain from mentioning the name and reasons for this, but still. I feel the cyberspacial void should know of this.

I shaved my head today. I was home alone, I sat down on a kitchen stool, held a small mirror in front of me, and shaved away. My head now feels absolutely amazing, and we'll have to see the reaction I'm going to get from my friends (And the children at youth) tonight.. Good times indeed.

Okay.. I think that's all I wanted to say.. Stay tuned for more, from Mr Tomnus, here on StingyEmployer FM!

Cloony The Clown by Shel Silverstein

I'll tell you the story of Cloony the Clown
Who worked in a circus that came through town.
His shoes were too big and his hat was too small,
But he just wasn't, just wasn't funny at all.
He had a trombone to play loud silly tunes,
He had a green dog and a thousand balloons.
He was floppy and sloppy and skinny and tall,
But he just wasn't, just wasn't funny at all.
And every time he did a trick,
Everyone felt a little sick.
And every time he told a joke,
Folks sighed as if their hearts were broke.
And every time he lost a shoe,
Everyone looked awfully blue.
And every time he stood on his head,
Everyone screamed, "Go back to bed!"
And every time he made a leap,
Everybody fell asleep.
And every time he ate his tie,
Everyone began to cry.
And Cloony could not make any money
Simply because he was not funny.
One day he said, "I'll tell this town
How it feels to be an unfunny clown."
And he told them all why he looked so sad,
And he told them all why he felt so bad.
He told of Pain and Rain and Cold,
He told of Darkness in his soul,
And after he finished his tale of woe,
Did everyone cry? Oh no, no, no,
They laughed until they shook the trees
With "Hah-Hah-Hahs" and "Hee-Hee-Hees."
They laughed with howls and yowls and shrieks,
They laughed all day, they laughed all week,
They laughed until they had a fit,
They laughed until their jackets split.
The laughter spread for miles around
To every city, every town,
Over mountains, 'cross the sea,
From Saint Tropez to Mun San Nee.
And soon the whole world rang with laughter,
Lasting till forever after,
While Cloony stood in the circus tent,
With his head drooped low and his shoulders bent.
And he said,"THAT IS NOT WHAT I MEANT -
I'M FUNNY JUST BY ACCIDENT."
And while the world laughed outside.
Cloony the Clown sat down and cried.
